We took the tree down, finally. We had planned on doing it on Saturday the second, but got distracted when we went downstairs to clean out the storage room to get it ready for the Christmas Boxes.
Our eldest had gotten a Birthday Present in October, and apparently, Friday night when they were supposed to be watching a movie downstairs, they instead ripped apart the Styrofoam inserts that were in the box. By he time we got that mess cleaned up we were too tired of cleaning to want to take down the tree, AND we had passed a new house rule : From that moment on, Styrofoam is a banned substance in our home. Until our children reach the age of 25, if they get soemthing that contains Styrofoam, it must immediately be surrendered to their parental units. I even told the boys “This means if you come home for Christmas with your girlfriend or wives at the age of 24, and we give you a box of Styrofoam, you have to give it to us, in front of the girl!
LOL
So Sunday the Third we decided we would take down the tree, but my husbands nephew called and invited us over for dinner. I was Leary going over because his wife had given birth LESS than a day before, but he insisted, so off we went.
Monday I took all the decorations and lights off the tree and put them in their boxes, and Hubs took the tree itself down that evening. Our living room looks so empty now, like one of those homes in magazines filled with modern furniture furniture!
It looks so weird after having the tree of for over a month, but I bet that before February hits, I will be used to the empty look again!
