The guys (Guys being Micah and his dad0 are in the basement hard at work getting my central vac installed. We all figured that seeing as Micah is on a forced 2 week (unpaid) shut down at work, we may as well get some crap done around the house.

In early February my neighbor gave me (FREE OMG!) her old central vac as she had gotten a more powerful one. My FIL tested the central vac she gave us and it works A-OK, but putting the thing in is hard work, all the tubes and pipes and stuff have to be put in, even thought he house came “roughed in” for central vac, all that means was they put in a hole in the wall where you connect the CV. Then they covered the place int eh basement where you hook it up with ductwork, AND becuase they are idiots, while installing the rough in, they drilled holes in the pipe. You know, the pipe that needs to have NO leaks for us to have suction? Yeah. That one.

On Tuesday Hubby, our youngest son, and I went to the city to take recycling to the depot and to stopped at home depot and get some Y connectors for the central vac piping, and a few faceplates for the wall. We stopped by the faucets to check prices because I want a faucet with the pull out spray thingy so I can make coffee easier (LOL) and I was pretty pleased to see that the type of faucet I want is between 150-200 bucks, which, after listening to everyone complain about how expensive that type of thing is, was nice to see. Cant buy one till after we get our taxes back, but at least we know what price range we are looking at!

As usual, our boy had to use the washroom while we were out – he is fascinated by public washrooms and uses the many chance he can. I don;t mind a public washroom, but I hate when they only have hand dryers becuase I prefer to use paper towels and kill trees.

The coolest bit about the whole central vac being installed is this:

This is a kick plate, so when I sweep now, i tap the thingy with my foot, it will open up and suck all my dirt down into the central vac canister! i am super excited to have this whole thing set up, but the kick plate just tickles me!
